Mattison is in his second stint as Michigan’s defensive coordinator, having served as Lloyd Carr’s DC upon Lloyd’s promotion to head coach in 1995. Pulled a darn near miracle in taking a ragtag band of defensive players who had been maligned under Greg Robinson and turned them into a defensive powerhouse in just one season.
