Sullivan Anthony “Tripp” Welborne, the two time consensus All-America defensive back (1989, 1990) for the Maize and Blue was born on this day in 1968. Known for his hard hits as well as his punt return prowess (his 455 punt return yards were a single season record) a knee injury against Minnesota in his senior year caused him to miss both the OSU game and the Gator Bowl.
