Thanks for checking out MVictors. This site is a University of Michigan sports blog with a focus on football. I started writing and posting about Michigan football on another site in 2001 and launched the Michigan football content on MVictors during the 2006 season. This site is not affiliated in any way with the University of Michigan or any club or group associated with the school.

Greg Dooley runs the site and I’m a Michigan graduate, football and hockey season ticket holder, Victors Club member, lifetime Alumni Club member.   Yes, I’ve kissed a girl.   No, I don’t live in my mom’s basement although that doesn’t sound too bad. Yes, I’ve played football before even scored two touchdowns in high school, and yes, I’ve still got one play left in me–preferably kick-off coverage, wall breaker (think Ronnie Lott with a keyboard).

There are many M blogs out there in the nerdosphere. I try to do a few things with this site:

  • I explore Michigan athletics history and cover this topic often via the eBay Watch series. This is probably the most widely read regular feature.
  • This site doesn’t break down game film of the direct game action.  While I’ll offer my takes on what I see on the field, my focus is on exploring the rich culture that has developed around Michigan athletics.
  • Finally, on occasion I’ll interview interesting folks around the program including writers, radio show hosts, former players and more.

Any significant mention or participation in the mainstream media is mentioned here.  Schedule permitting I am available to guest write/blog.  I covered the 2008 Spring game for the Saline Reporter, I’ve been published in the Ann Arbor Observer, submitted pieces on M history in Hail to the Victors 2008 (and this year, 2009) and in March 2009 even sat in for an hour on WTKA 1050AM on John U. Bacon’s ‘Big Show’).

Guest Columnists: I’ve published the talents of a few guest columnists from around the country. If you are interested in publishing something with a unique perspective on a Michigan related topic, send it along.

Want to Support MVictors?: That’s easy, email me with feedback, comment on posts, submit guest columns, visit my sponsors and most importantly, support a charity that I highlight.

Guidelines: Not too many, although I try to keep the content of this site related to Michigan athletics, not politics or what have you.   And I try to keep this site free of f-bombs and strong language in general.  I blog when I feel like it, I won’t publish my blogging schedule.   This is a hobby so often posts are done quickly, published, then edited later when I have a chance.

Blog Software and Site info: I use WordPress, usually the latest version (2.7 as of this update). Right now I use a theme called CongnoBlue although I’ve made some modifications to the style to suit my eye. I use Macromedia Fireworks for the image editing. The banner image of the Ohio State-Michigan teams meeting at midfield was taken by me. If you want a higher resolution copy just let me know.

Ads, Revenue, etc: It’s a hobby. I do use MVictors.com as a frequent sponsor to a few charitable events, primarily for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). The advertisers on this site cover hosting expenses and help supplement the charitable sponsorships.

Photos: If you’d like to use an original photo on this site, please link to the page where you got it. If I post a photo I took,  it’s fair game to reuse it—I just appreciate the link back/hat tip to my site.

Traffic: As of October 2008, I get around 1,500-3,000 pageviews each day. The peak traffic to this site was after the Steve Kampfer incident (around 15,000 views) and after any Ohio State game.
