• Fun To Watch (Illinois Photos, Etc.)

It is fun to watch!  Wow, what a wild day out there as the teams scored the most points since this happened over a century ago: The folks behind this door in the press box were crazy busy: Oh the difference between winning and losing.  Folks this morning rejoice, when a mere bounce or drop could obviously have changed fortunes.  Hemingway made some outstanding plays today and thankfully held onto the game-winning two point conversion: And he talked about it after the game: Then there was Easy Treezy who set the all-time receiving record.  I hope he saved something for Danny Hope and Purdue: Greg Robinson just after the final whistle, clearly emotional The offensive line was outstanding today; here’s Lewan and a tiny, tiny little Vinny Smith behind him.  Looks like he can fit in his pocket: Kind of reminds me of this: It was obviously frustrating at times, this was probably the scariest of the many defensive breakdowns.  No one was even close: It’s always cool when the band drops and covers the ‘M’.   Craig at the Hoover Street Rag found the full video of the Wizard of Oz halftime show video, and broke it down here. As part of the Wizard of Oz business, the band formed the Script Oh no (after a temporary script Ohio).  If…

  • Bowling Green Postgame: Still Feeling Alright

The favorites off my camera from the post game: Gardner feelin’ alright: Thumbs up from Shaw, who’s doesn’t dole out the thumbs up for anyone in my experience: Tate and Denard reflecting briefly on the big day: "How much of this stuff do he think we can stand?  So much rhythm, grace and debonair from one man?" (What, no ascot???): Denard chilling as the clock winded down: QB Force got a huge cheer from the crowd when he came in.  I asked him about after the game; he definitely heard it and appreciated it: Not too bad? Elsewhere: Nice shots from Brad at Maize and Blue Nation. Lon from AnnArbor.com got the shot of Denard leaping to check Gardner after the game. Dell’s shots from UMGoBlue

  • Tate Forcier – Media Day

A few words from me before quoting Tate.  This guy stood in here today and got hammered with questions about missing wings, expectations and being called out by Woolfolk.  He handled it all like a pro.  He was humble, apologetic, and most of all, kept getting back to do whatever’s best for the team.   Whatever happens from here give him credit for manning up and embracing this adversity.  He certainly won points with me today.  Here’s Tate: Does he feel like he’s been challenged?   "Yes..He told me he was going to.  And I think Coach Rod has done a great job at it and it’s only making me better.  I can’t be made at it." What did he do to earn his helmet wings back?   "Something my dad always told me, action speak louder than words.  I just stayed quiet…and did all the work, and make sure everyone saw me doing the work…first one on the practice field and the last one off.  Whatever it took.  I got them back and I’m happy." His answer to the skeptics, that this team won’t improve: "People can think what they want.  They don’t see what’s going on every day like all of us players do." Did he think he didn’t have to work as hard (during the off-season)?  "I wouldn’t say that,…

  • Purdue Pregame: Tate and the Giant Drum

For a November day in Michigan, it can’t get any better.  Heading toward mid-60s, you can get away a light jacket and a golf shirt today.  Mesko warming up: I blasted a Tweet before the game to this effect, but I caught Tate trotting off the field toward the lockers before the initial stretching, etc.  The Purdue band was rolling that giant drum down the tunnel and Tate decided to tried to squeeze by.  He made it (barely), but Tate – BAD READ!
