Bo on Harbaugh’s Guarantee (1986)

Bumped from Twitter because I know many of you don’t partake in the social media snakepit and this is classic.

Here’s Bo following Michigan’s 26-24 win over Ohio State in Columbus when asked about Harbaugh’s pregame guarantee:

Awesome find by Dr. Sap.  Transcript:

“Hey look, he’s 22 years old.  This man wants to win.  What do you want me to do, have him stand up a say ‘I hope we play a nice game?’   No, he decided he would come out and say we’re going to win it.

“You gotta understand.  You people don’t understand what it’s like to lose in the 10th game of the year and have the biggest one of the year coming up the next week.  You know damn well you’re going to have some dedication.  If he wants to stand up and say ‘We’re going down there and win,’ stand up a say it.”

“The hell, he’s 22 years old, everyone thinks I’m upset about it.  Hell…I’d a said it myself if I had any guts! [laughter]”

Then Bo joins the laughter, and in this relaxed moment, he seems to enjoy that he cracked everyone up.  As he continues that crazy laugh you have to wonder if the weight of that 1986 game finally rolled off his shoulders–right at that moment.
