Michigan Football Mediocre, Iowa Prevails

SQUAW VALLEY, CA OCT. 5, 2003 The Michigan Wolverine football team lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes Saturday in Iowa City.

I didn’t watch this game, but I followed along pretty closely and have heard and read a few things since. First, this is not a surprise after the Oregon and Indiana games. While it is not a surprise, it is unacceptable.

Lloyd Carr said you could point the finger at him – is that supposed to make us feel better? Thanks for verbally shouldering the blame coach, we already do blame you for this one. Give Lloyd Carr credit for recruiting and building a team that is considered for the national title at some point each year, but he has to start delivering. Two losses to average teams, home or away, isn’t acceptable. Minnesota is next, and Jeff Smoker is looking very comfortable firing the ball in John L. Smith’s Spartan offense.
