No More Indiana Nice – Sight & Sounds (Michigan 31, Indiana 20)

They had to earn it.  The Hoosiers exposed a few issues on defense and frankly that’s ok by me.  It’s good that it happened at home and especially in a game that we eventually controlled.  Sure, it might give the Buckeyes a few ideas but my money is on this staff & its ability to fix the kinks in the armor.

Regarding the postgame chatter about dirty play?  Get over it.  Don’t sink the Bismarck.   It’s Indiana.  A few sights & sounds:

Big Jon.   Saturday’s honorary captain was Jon Falk.  The in-game announcement included a lengthy video tribute from Tom Brady who was filmed inside his metrosexual-certified living room.  He praised Falk and flashed a few rings.

On top of Saturday’s honor, my understanding is heretofore the U-M Equipment Operations position will be named after Big Jon [H/T: @michiganinsider Ira Weintraub].

That’s a cool tribute for a great man.  You probably know that Big Jon has been very good to me and always helpful for content on these pages.

Wiggle Go.  Wiggle Blue.  Near the end of the game, this formation was formed at midfield:

First the ‘GO’ side wiggled their legs in the air, then the Blue side, and repeat.   The crowd caught on right away.   The leg wiggle was a prompt for the fans to yell ‘GOOOOOO!‘ and subsequently, ‘BLUUUUUE!‘  It worked.

Years ago they used to do a dueling ‘GO‘ and ‘BLUE‘ chant on either side of the stadium.  No wiggle was needed.  The cheer squad held up signs and it was always cool to hear inside the bowl.  I haven’t heard it in years.  This was a nice alternative.

About Time, Man.  The latest inductees into the U-M Hall of Honor were recognized out there Saturday including Bo’s standout DT Dave Gallagher.  About time.

In my book Gallagher already earned a one-way ticket into Meechigan Football’s Valhalla thanks his actions before the 1977 Ohio State game:

Dr. Sap’s awesome story about that 1977 dust-up is often mentioned on these pages, but you can find it here if you’ve missed it.

Mood:   About there:

Historical NotesVia #1000SSS:

– Today’s game marked the 50th of Jim Harbaugh‘s tenure at Michigan. The Wolverines are 38-12 under Harbaugh and have posted at least 10 wins in three of his four seasons at the helm.

– Freshman kicker Jake Moody set a Michigan single-game record with six field goals, going 6-for-6 in his collegiate placekicking debut
