Saturday Night Live – Sights & Sounds (Michigan 38, Wisconsin 13)

Johnny Wangler & Anthony Carter.   Need I say more?  Doesn’t get much better than having these two together in the south endzone (above).

Paging Mr. Ufer up in Michigan Football’s Valhalla: it’s 39 years and counting and yes, JW2AC will be heard until another 61 years of Meechigan football is played.  And then some.

Centers.  Among the many legendary offensive linemen on prem to be honored and support the squad – these two.  On a distinguished list of the baddest mofos who’ve ever snapped the pigkin here at Michigan.  I give you Captain Molk and Steve Everitt:

They actually tried to sync up on dress code before the game

Imposing.   re: the large contingent of large former offensive lineman at the game.  These guys come from a generation when Michigan imposed its will on the guys across from them.  Imposed as in – the opponent pretty much knew exactly where the play was going but there wasn’t a thing they could do about it.   That’s something we haven’t seen in years and gets to Desmond Howard’s comment on GameDay about the program being set back 8-10 years.

Here’s one of those guys who knows something about dominating people.  This is “Big Ed” Muransky (’81), the honorary captain for Saturday’s game, addressing the team at practice this week:

During pregame I was on the sideline around those former lineman and goodness, Bo, Mo and Lloyd recruited some massive dudes.    They were huddled up near the south endzone while Wisconsin warmed up.   I swear many of them dwarfed the Badgers lineman as they went through drills.

Mr. Winovich.   Chase’s old man was flooded with offers from Hollywood after the game:

Until this moment thought that Steve Everitt might Chase’s real dad.

Vibe.  Everitt captured it for you:

Cheddar-encrusted Crickets.  Nobody got my Cheeseman joke early in the game until C.C. was assaulted and it hit them in the head.

Mood.  Up – big one next week:

Historic notes.  Via #1000SSS:

  • Patterson’s 81-yard run early in the second quarter is Michigan’s longest since Denard Robinson’s 87-yarder vs. Notre Dame in 2010. It is tied for the 15th longest run from scrimmage in Michigan history and is the second longest by a Michigan quarterback.
  • Prior to the game, Michigan paid homage to its tradition of producing offensive line talent. More than 20 offensive linemen were honored in a pregame ceremony, each of whom played at least five years in the NFL, was an All-Big Ten selection or was a U-M team captain.

20th anniversary.  Red Berenson’s 1998 national championship hockey squad was honored during the game.

Is it me or is this man a complete bad ass?

That is tough dude, right there.   Me?  Not so much.  I was bundled up like Randy from Christmas Story as he strolled by in his letterman’s jacket like it was a mild fall afternoon.

Family Affair.  Love that Desmond brought the pee-wees to the game:

Here they were back in 2015 before the MSU game:

Attention Fans.  Not sure I’ve see this before.  I don’t think we needed it Saturday night:

Idea for next game: “Penn State thinks they can pass on us.  Please respond.”

MMB Marching Out.  I tried the Twitter live thingy as the band marched out.  I think the replay quality gets degraded – at the end you catch the band chanting ‘Beat the Spartans’ and it’s great, to be…

Serving 111,000 Asses like John McEnroe.  Or his Clone Army I supposed.  I’m definitely down with the Yost-Blues Brothers song/dance between the 3rd and the 4th but – I’ll admit I’m a bit jealous of the Badgers for ‘Jump Around‘.  Memo to #1000SS, I’m ok with borrowing it every once in a while like we did Saturday night:

I also love the song ‘Hang on Sloopy‘ but don’t tell anybody.
