• eBay Watch: Terrelle Pryor’s Sweatband just $349.99

Stumbled upon this on SI.com’s Fan Nation, looks like a wristband worn and signed by your hero Terrelle Pryor is being sold on eBay right now for a cool $349.99. (Maybe the seller will use those funds for a new camera). According to the seller, Ohio State is out of the running for TP….it’s down to Oregon and Michigan. Great! The auction reads: Up for bid in this auction is a Game Used Wristband signed by Terrelle Pryor the #1 ranked high school football player and #10 ranked basketball player in the country. Pryor also put “9/14/07” on the wristband whch is the date of the game he used it in. Terrelle plays for the Jeanette Jayhawks in PA. Pryor is going to MICHIGAN or Oregon next year and hopes to play football and basketball. You will get the Game Used Wristband that is pictured. The Game Used Wristband is signed in Blue sharpie. Not exactly Mean Joe Greene’s jersey! Well, who knows? If TP comes to Michigan and wins the Heisman, that wristband would be worth at least $10, don’t you agree? Speaking of Heisman, Michigan youtube Yoda “WolverineHistorian” just put down his latest joint, and nice montage of Woodson and Howard’s Heisman seasons with some excellent footage (I particularly enjoyed the endzone shots):

  • Can I Get a Spot? Firesale Sunday!

To make way for new fitness bad boy Mike Barwis and his $600,000 new toys, Rich Rod and his henchmen cleaned out the weight room. The old equipment will be on sale Sunday from 12-3 at ROCK BOTTOM PRICES. Details here and here: Due to the purchase of new equipment for the Schembechler Weight Room, the University of Michigan Athletic Department will be holding a public sale of surplus equipment. The sale is scheduled for Sunday (Jan. 13) from noon to 3 p.m. in Oosterbaan Fieldhouse. The equipment includes weightlifting apparatus as well as aerobic machines and dumbbells. Cash, credit or checks will be accepted, and the equipment must be removed from Oosterbaan Fieldhouse that day. Get on it man – Grab that bar and send it up! After one house cleaning, another was announced as you know by now that Mallett, Manningham and Arrington are gone. No hard feelings here for these kids and of course wish them best of luck. My take on 86 is “Happy Trails, Super Mario”. I didn’t think the guy gave 100% effort at the Wisconsin game and was obviously frustrated. I don’t care if Mallett wasn’t getting him the ball, he should have played through it and I have trouble forgiving him for that. Plus, did you really expect he’d stay? I always…

  • Hoosiers Breeze in front of Coaches Carr & Rod

This is midway through the first half – this is real Made it up to the game last night and it wasn’t as close as the 78-64 final score. – It’s a little frustrating to sit and watch. The offense pretty much looks for an open three and then clanks it off the rim. The good news? It seemed like they were getting good looks at the rim before then tossing the brick. – The highlight of the game was DeShawn Sims’ three-quarter court heave to end the half. The place erupted and that was nice to see. – Newsflash: Eric Gordon is amazing. Michigan kept it relatively close near half because Gordon was on the bench with three fouls. – A few local AA-list celebrities at the game including: * Coach Carr with wife Laurie at mid-court. He got a huge cheer when they showed him on the screen. * Coach Rod with a few new staffers (see pic). Both coaches spent some time with Florida grad and supreme hotness Erin Andrews. * Joe Dumars courtside checking out the talent. * Sam Webb of WTKA. – As far as the arena, it was at best 40% full with large portions of the Maize section empty. Four of us walked up to Crisler without tickets. A few different fans handed…

  • Live Blog: Michigan vs. Florida Capital One

If you were questioning whether this was a partisan Florida crowd, check out the stands And Carr gives some touching comments at midfield and he’s flanked by wife Laurie. Great stuff; Great win….can’t be happier for the guy and the program. And taking down Urban Meyer and Florida is a big one for the Big Ten. And Tebow scrambled for what seemed to be hours and threw it up high in the air…it looked for a moment like the Gator receiver was open but no. Incomplete and Michigan and the Big Ten win this one. Henne’s the MVP for me. They dose Carr with the cooler. The story of course is Carr but also Michigan giving a glimpse of the future Michigan offense (maybe DeBord trying to keep his job) and the final story line is M overcoming those 4 turnovers. Clock ticks to zero and what a great end to a tough season. Two incomplete passes sets the clock to 2:04 and sets up third and 10. And Trent JUST MISSES and incredible play to pick the ball off. 1:58 – Fourth Down.

  • Carty: They’re fat

Per AA News columnist Jim Carty, the team (save Marquis Slocum) looked noticeably a tad plump at the open practice: Hart looks to be carrying a few extra pounds and he was far from alone. Right guard Alex Mitchell and a number of other linemen on both sides of the ball are as big as they’ve been all year, and by big, I mean big as in bellies, not big as in ripped. I question this a little bit, I mean, what’s Carty’s frame of reference? The locker room after the regular season games? He did add that Henne and Hart appeared to be a full strength despite Hart’s portliness. Elsewhere, the New York Times named Rich Rodriguez one of its 5 individuals who had a major impact on the sports world in 2007. Pete Thamel who does the Times’ The Quad Blog wrote the piece. On the Michigan hire: By hiring Rodriguez, Michigan, which had clung to its Bo Schembechler-bred power football roots, essentially pulled its head from the proverbial cloud of dust and conceded that gaining 3 yards at a time was no way to win national titles. Finally, I’m not a doctor but looks like they should have delivered Henne’s cortisone shots in his arse.

  • Carr at UCLA, Freep Special Report

Obviously it was a disappointing finish to the hoops game yesterday, as the UCLA wore down Beilein’s crew and pulled away easily in the second half. The turning point? When they showed the video of coach Carr in the stands. Note the time and the score at the time: And not to nitpick, but if you are going to put an end date on Carr’s coaching career, technically it’s 2008. Two interesting links from the Free Press today: 1. Wow, check out the exchange between Les Miles and Rodriguez, as described by Rodriguez’s mother. It kind of validates the cocktail party theory that the WVU/Pitt game basically determined our next coach: According to her, Miles thanked Rodriguez for losing the game against Pittsburgh. Miles then joked with Rodriguez that the loss cost Miles his dream job. “He told my son that if West Virginia had beaten Pitt, they would’ve been in the championship game, and that would’ve left an opening for him,” she said. 2. Definitely give this is a read. Shawn Windsor of the Free Press put together a special report on the days leading to the Rodriguez hiring.

  • Michigan Tradition 101: Study Guide for Coach Rodriguez

In his introduction press conference last week, Coach Rodriguez was up front about not knowing much about the Michigan football tradition. He promised to take a book on Bo Schembechler (I assume it was the new one, John Bacon’s Bo’s Lasting Lessons) home over the weekend and give it a read. I think most Michigan fans are concerned about wins and losses and would trade a championship for a coach that knows, cherishes and embraces the previous hundred and thirty years of football in Ann Arbor. Fine. But there are quite a few of us around that the tradition matters. Again, not to say that an outsider can’t come in and embrace it. While I’m growing tired of the Bo references to this situation, you have to consider Schembechler. Bo wasn’t quite a complete outsider as was Rodriguez, but he was an outsider nonetheless and is now the quintessential M man. Count me as a one that will be disappointed if during his Monday press conference on November 3, 2008, Coach Rodriguez fails to recount the history of the Little Brown Jug, as Coach Carr did each year during his tenure. And consider me ‘blue’ if we learn that Rodriguez doesn’t do something each practice to prepare for Ohio State, as has been done by each opponent since the days…

  • Nine Men Out

Word is out this evening that Coach Rodriguez met with all nine assistant coaches and gave them a simple message: “You’re fired.” This is a little disappointing as I, like I think many Wolverine fans, had hoped that he would retain a few of the coaches to keep some continuity, especially in recruiting. I was hopeful that RB coach Fred Jackson and quarterbacks coach Scot Loeffler would be retained. Probably won’t happen. This said, in his introduction press conference this week Coach Rodriguez made an effort to stress that some of the coaches might be “rehired” as part of this process, and he used that term. The Detroit News indicated that D-line coach Steve Stripling might be a candidate for rejoining Rodriguez’s staff. We’ll see if anyone else gets back on the staff. A little disappointing but you’ve got to let this guy do his thing. UPDATE 12/21, 10am: The majority of folks calling WTKA are upset about this. My take: I don’t think this is a done deal. Again, he specifically said in his press conference that some coaches would be “re-hired”. UPDATE 12/21, 2pm: Ok, everyone chill. I was correct in that this wasn’t final: word is out that Fred Jackson will be retained. We’ll see how else soon.
