As a former U of M MVP ’75 and injured Wolverine who has struggled physically, I Founded FAN, Inc., the Foundation for Athletes in Need, specifically to assist former NCAA athletes who were injured while participating in an NCAA sanctioned activity. Our goal is to identify and provide medical services to those struggling as a direct result of these injuries.
My research indicates that there is no organization helping this group of individuals. I am persuaded that the “health and welfare” of the college athletes goes beyond the years of NCAA eligibility and that there have been many who have dedicated a portion of their hearts, souls and bodies to the proliferation of their respective Universities and Athletic Departments. We are creating a fund that will help these athletes with their medical and rehabilitative needs. Our assistance will be predicated on an as needed criteria and based on the individual hardships as they are attributable to the injuries incurred.
We are on a mission to identify these athletes. Any help you could provide us would be greatly appreciated.
