I stumbled upon this by chance—it’s a letter dating to 1923 from Notre Dame’s legendary Knute Rocke, written to BYU “coach of athletics” Eugene Roberts.
I’m trying piece to piece together what he’s talking about, but it looks like Rockne helped out teaching a class at BYU and is corresponding with the director in Provo. On his way back to Indiana and admits that he’s “a little fed up on football”. Rockne will offer his grades when he returns but stresses, “I do not believe we should flunk anybody.”
