Comparing eras is always hard. And an important data point is that Michigan shared most of its B1G titles throughout history. Nonetheless, below find a simple plot of the gaps between the 42 conference titles claimed by the Wolverines:

If you want to just look at outright titles, ok. This is not apples-to-apples either based on shifts in conference size, scheduling variations, and of course the lack of a championship game (we have that now, right?) for most of our history:

Personally, I count divison championships as the same as co-champs. Co-division champs tho, I dunno. A bit much for me since we didn’t get to the BTCG, but otherwise it does change the discussion some.

Yeah, historically speaking a trip to the BTCG seems to be a reasonable comparison to a co-conference title.

The worst part is that coinciding with our 16 year gap since our last co-championship – Ohio State has won a share of the conference/division title for every single season during that stretch excepting 2011, if you include the vacated/ineligible years. No other program has been masters of their conference or division like they have.
