Ahead of Michigan facing Georgia in the 2021 Orange Bowl in the CFP Semi-finals, a look back at the first meeting between the schools in October 1957:
- Video of U-M’s Mike Shatusky’s glorious pick 6 from 1957 yielded an interesting find – Shatusky’s actual 1957 Michigan uniform in full-color thanks to his grandson!
- An investigation of why Georgia wore its home (red) uniforms on the road at Michigan Stadium – this wasn’t common for U-M’s games at the time.
- Dealing with playing Georgia, a segregated school, while having African-American players on the Michigan roster, bringing up memories of the 1934 Georgia Tech (Willis Ward) game in Ann Arbor.
Given all these topics it seemed a perfect fit for the MVictors History Show, so dig it:

Great stuff Greg, I need to check my basement, did Barry Dehlin play in the 1965 game? I know he was injured that year, but I assume Georgia was an early game. I think I may have a program.

Hey Mike, I don’t believe so, at least I don’t see any mention or data in the boxscore. In fact IIRC did he take the 1965 season off and return in 1966?
