Give him credit for coming out and facing the questions. Denard said he didn’t address the team after the game but planned to say a few things tomorrow. A couple quotes transcribed via Kyle Meinke: "I want to say sorry and it won’t happen no more. I’m going to be accountable for the rest of the season, I can tell you that much" "This is the most disappointed I ever been in myself." "Whatever it takes for the team to win, that’s what I’m going to do. I don’t want to feel like this anymore." Related: Where’s The Party? (Notre Dame 13, Michigan 6) Happy Birthday to Shoelace ! TWIMFbH: Stanford, ‘73 and a Salute to the Big Ten
Salute! via Dr. Sap’s archives The Stanford Cardinals (yes, s) came to town exactly 39 years ago Saturday and surely braced themselves to face Bo Schembechler in the 1973 home opener. TWIMFbH gets into that game and much more. Have a listen…includes a couple salutes to the great Bob Ufer: [display_podcast] As discussed in the clip, the boys from Palo Alto hold a special place in Michigan football history as they were the lambs opponents vs. Fielding Yost’s undefeated, untied, and unscored upon Point-A-Minute crew in the 1902 Rose Bowl. Staring at a 49-0 deficit with eight minutes still left in the game, the Indians found the only white towel that wasn’t blood-stained and waved it, begging for mercy. It was granted. Fast forward nearly four decades and it was once again Stanford who faced another one of the finest Wolverines squads in history—this time Fritz Crisler, Bob Chappuis and the Mad Magicians of 1947. Once again Michigan hung 49 (to Stanford’s 13) on October 4, 1947. Bo Schembechler didn’t hold back either when the Cardinals visited in ‘73, thirty-nine years ago this Saturday, in fact he practically beat the “s” of the Stanford nickname (although that wouldn’t officially happen until 1981), winning 47-10. But ‘73 is better remembered by U-M fans by the vote of Big Ten commissioners that…

Touchdown Billy Taylor: The Movie
You know the story about his tricked out maize and blue shoes. Brace yourself for the rest of the story of “Touchdown” Billy Taylor. You can be a part of it as the first screening of a new piece of Michigan Football history is unveiled. Perseverance – The Story of Dr. Billy Taylor is a new documentary and will premiere at the Michigan Theatre on Friday November 16th in two showings: 7:30PM and 9:55PM. [As soon as they post the link to the tickets, I’ll post here. You can buy them on TicketWeb right now 7:30PM or 9:55PM.] I had a chance to meet co-director Dan Chace recently in Ann Arbor and he’s clearly jacked about the film. I haven’t seen the documentary yet but plan to as soon as I can get my meat hooks on a copy. Much more later on this. In the meantime, here’s the full press release: NEW DOCUMENTARY FILM ON FORMER MICHIGAN RUNNING BACK, BILLY TAYLOR, DIRECTED BY MICHIGAN ALUMNI TEAM, SET TO PREMIERE AT MICHIGAN THEATRE, ONE NIGHT ONLY, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16 Ann Arbor’s Michigan Theatre has just added a November 16 Premiere Screening date for a recently completed documentary film entitled, Perseverance – The Story of Dr. Billy Taylor. Dr. Sap’s Decals–UMass
Ed. Dr. Sap is back with his decals for week 3. I added the Editor’s pick and Fan award this week. Here are the picks from Week 1 and Week 2. Back when Bo was coaching the Michigan Football team, he awarded decals for individual as well as TEAM accomplishments. He also selected Champions each week. Not only were the obvious categories (offense, defense, special teams) selected, but Bo also made it a point to recognize the not so obvious ones – Scout Team Champions and Team Hustlers – each week. OFFENSE DENARD ROBINSON – did it all on offense for U-M (AGAIN!). Looked much more poised and in command of the offense. Still has some work to do, but the season is young and #16 is still “hungry.” DEFENSE FRANK CLARK – While he was only in on 3 tackles and had one tackle for loss, he was solid in his first career start. Got to the quarterback and gave the D some much needed pressure when it was still a game in the first half. SPECIAL TEAMS WILL HAGERUP – Only had two punts , but averaged 46 yards with one being a 60 yarder that UMass fumbled and recovered at their 4-yard line. HUSTLER / SPARKPLUG TAYLOR LEWAN – Always a big deal when your offensive tackle…
