You know the story about his tricked out maize and blue shoes.   Brace yourself for the rest of the story of “Touchdown” Billy Taylor.   You can be a part of it as the first screening of a new piece of Michigan Football history is unveiled.   Perseverance – The Story of Dr. Billy Taylor is a new documentary and will premiere at the Michigan Theatre on Friday November 16th in two showings: 7:30PM and 9:55PM.  [As soon as they post the link to the tickets, I’ll post here.   You can buy them on TicketWeb right now 7:30PM or 9:55PM.] I had a chance to meet co-director Dan Chace recently in Ann Arbor and he’s clearly jacked about the film.   I haven’t seen the documentary yet but plan to as soon as I can get my meat hooks on a copy.  Much more later on this.  In the meantime, here’s the full press release: NEW DOCUMENTARY FILM ON FORMER MICHIGAN RUNNING BACK, BILLY TAYLOR, DIRECTED BY MICHIGAN ALUMNI TEAM, SET TO PREMIERE AT MICHIGAN THEATRE, ONE NIGHT ONLY, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16 Ann Arbor’s Michigan Theatre has just added a November 16 Premiere Screening date for a recently completed documentary film entitled, Perseverance – The Story of Dr. Billy Taylor. • Dr. Sap’s Decals–UMass

Ed.  Dr. Sap is back with his decals for week 3.   I added the Editor’s pick and Fan award this week.  Here are the picks from Week 1 and Week 2. Back when Bo was coaching the Michigan Football team, he awarded decals for individual as well as TEAM accomplishments.   He also selected Champions each week. Not only were the obvious categories (offense, defense, special teams) selected, but Bo also made it a point to recognize the not so obvious ones – Scout Team Champions and Team Hustlers – each week.   OFFENSE DENARD ROBINSON – did it all on offense for U-M (AGAIN!). Looked much more poised and in command of the offense. Still has some work to do, but the season is young and #16 is still “hungry.” DEFENSE FRANK CLARK – While he was only in on 3 tackles and had one tackle for loss, he was solid in his first career start. Got to the quarterback and gave the D some much needed pressure when it was still a game in the first half. SPECIAL TEAMS WILL HAGERUP – Only had two punts , but averaged 46 yards with one being a 60 yarder that UMass fumbled and recovered at their 4-yard line. HUSTLER / SPARKPLUG TAYLOR LEWAN – Always a big deal when your offensive tackle…

  • 60 Meh-nutes (Michigan 63, Massachusetts 13)

Bright sides:  I’m glad it was a perfect day out there.  I was happy to see Treezy get in the endzone (so we he obviously), Gardner looks like he’s getting better including his blocking, and the legend of D Funch took another step forward.   My biggest concern: Beyond Denard’s inconsistency tossing the ball, Fitz couldn’t seem to get many yards with the play that was called—he had to bounce it outside often to create space.  That’s not This-is-Michigan-Fergodsakes football, fergodsakes. The D-line is still a big question mark. Elsewhere: * Ron Kramer:  #1000SSS did a nice job once again on the Legends ceremony and the #87 hype video was well done.  I got to meet a few of the family members before the game including Ron Kramer’s granddaughter Kelsey who was rocking #87’s ring as promised: L-R Ron Kramer’s granddaughter Kelsey, daughter in law Dawn, son Kurt One disappointment of course was that, unlike Jake Ryan and the #47, we didn’t get a chance to see the #87 on the field as TE Brandon Moore was dinged up.  I’m not sure what could have been done about that. * Good sign. The game was effectively over UMass squad gathered at midfield prior to suiting up and formed the Radish of Rage (formerly known as the Turnip of Terror): * Tay…

  • Sorry Plaxico, Tom Brady Wore Cleats (ESPN radio audio)

Check out former MSU receiver Plaxico Burress talking about Tom Brady this morning with Colin Cowherd on ESPN radio: [display_podcast] That Plaxico has a mancrush on respects Brady isn’t a shock, but he’s claiming that back in college Cool Tom didn’t wear cleats during a game played on grass vs. the Spartans? To get this straightened out I shot a note to longtime equipment manager Jon Falk & asked if there is any truth to Plaxico’s claim.   Falk’s reply:  "None." Case closed. P.S. I still want Super Drew Henson in there instead of Brady!
