For those who don’t favor the slideshow format, sorry homes but it was not my doing.   For those of you who are pissed player X isn’t on the list, take a number :) P.S.  Here’s a better photo of Everitt:

  • Dr. Sap’s Decals – Michigan State!

Ed.  Steve Sapardanis aka “Dr. Sap” is back with his decals for Michigan State week.   This week I added the Editor’s Pick & Fan Award.  Here are the picks from Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, Week 4, Week 5, Week 6. Context:  Back when Bo was coaching the Michigan Football team, he awarded decals for individual as well as TEAM accomplishments.   He also selected Champions each week. Not only were the obvious categories (offense, defense, special teams) selected, but Bo also made it a point to recognize the not so obvious ones – Scout Team Champions and Team Hustlers – each week.   Here are the picks this week: OFFENSE DREW DILEO – I think Denard just found his own version of Jason Avant. Clutch catches in traffic – that’s big time!  Maybe Dileo should wear #8 next year! And don’t forget his perfect holds and spots on field goals.   DEFENSE J.T. FLOYD – His Pass Break Ups thwarted at least three of MSU’s drives. I’m not saying it’s because he is dread-less, but I’m just saying…dude is starting to be that lock-down corner a defense needs to be great. SPECIAL TEAMS BRENDAN GIBBONS – I said last week that “Gibbons is a TOTALLY DIFFERENT kicker. There is a calmness and confidence that just wasn’t there a few years ago.”…

  • For the Kids (Griese-Hutchinson-Woodson Gala Pics)

Just a couple pics (via iPhone, mixed bag on the quality) from the GHW Mott Gala last night, held at The Glick. Chuck Woodson on stage chats with this cutie, one of the patients at Mott.    Legendary former C Steve Everitt, a walking a photo caption contest.   The big man is about to snap this young lad’s neck, ensuring that Mott will be in business another year.   Here’s former assistant coach Jerry Hanlon mixing it up with Chris “51 Carries” Perry.   A look at the righteous signed pigskin tossed to donors at the end of the night.   Along with Griese, the balls were delivered via the arms of Johnny Wangler, Matt Stafford, and Drew Henson among others. • Dr. Sap’s Decals – Eastern Michigan

Hoke didn’t bring them back but I think a surprising number of Michigan fans would like to see them return.  I’m talking about the helmet stickers or decals of course, Bo Schembechler’s 1965 invention (while at Miami, OH) that he brought to Ann Arbor.  Wolverine gear guru Dr. Steve Sapardanis was one hoping they’d be back and he’s even suggested a 2011 version to grace the Schutts and Riddells on Saturdays: Although these won’t adorn the headgear this season, Dr. Sap thought he’d run down a his thoughts on who he’d honor each week.  First, some context from Sap: In the past, Bo Schembechler had a list of achievements and criteria for each team (Offense, Defense and Special Teams) as well as individual accomplishments for awarding his helmet decals. Not being privy to film study or game performance grading, the process has been simplified to just touchdowns and big plays – and a few other "Awards of Distinction" as you will see below. Here’s Sap’s rundown for Eastern Michigan, including some influence from the editor of this site. Week #3 vs. Eastern Michigan ALL members of the Michigan Defense: for not allowing a point in the 1st quarter – first time all season! Jibreel Black: 1 decal for Forced Fumble in 1st quarter. • This Keeps Getting Better

Couldn’t help but watch the tape of the final quarter when I got home last night this morning. I’m not sure how I missed former Michigan center Steve Everitt on the field at the game, but there he was chilling behind Hoke during the postgame chat with Erin Andrews in his lucky shirt: Contrast that with the big man’s mood at last year’s Wisconsin’s game.  Don’t disturb the angry bear: Not happy.  Here he is again from 2008, rocking the lucky shirt when he was honorary captain for the game: Update: Here’s my interview with Everitt right after the final whistle.  He seemed a bit confused: [display_podcast]   Everitt Rules!
