– Chris Webber decided he’s coming back to the NBA this season and has narrowed his list to three teams (the Pistons are not one of them). – Buckeye James Laurinaitis decided that he’s not going to the NFL next season and will terrorize the Big Ten for another season. Guest poster Schlimmy has already moved on from the LSU game. – Former M hoops star Glen Rice allegedly made a bad decision at his wife’s home. – The Michigan “SIGN GUY” decided enough was enough and defended his humorous sign routine conducted during the Michigan vs. Harvard hoops game (as documented by guest contributor Brady Bonus). Willie says M fans were “lovin’ it”, like Chris Webber loved paying for McDonald’s during his school days. Sign Guy’s comments here. – Mario Manningham officially decided to give the NFL a go, as reported here last. – Finally, Ryan Mallett decided that Arkansas is the place for him.

Must See: Expanded Wangler to Carter
Check out Brian Cook’s AOL Fanhouse post on the new montage put together by the talented “expressfan”. It’s not just your same old Wangler to Carter. He’s got clips from the Bo and Brandstatter on Michigan Replay talking about the play and about broadcasting legend Bob Ufer. Plus, he thankfully includes a great clip of two plays prior to the famous pass when Michigan threw the ball right into Indiana coach Lee Corso’s hands to kill the clock. In one of the Ufer recordings (not provided here) you hear him talk about this but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it. It’s hilarious. Here’s the YouTube and don’t miss Cook’s take on the Fanhouse:

Love for Coach Rod, Shaq
Coach Rod is receiving rave reviews with the fans and media for his bluntness and candidness. And he’s not stopping with the fans and the media. Remember the group of former alumni that met the team prior to the Notre Dame and Ohio State games, and all those that petitioned Bill Martin to consider Les Miles? Well, Rodriguez is working on something for them, from John Heuser in the Ann Arbor News Sunday: Wolverine reunion In an effort to introduce himself and his staff to former Michigan players, Rodriguez plans to host an event in Ann Arbor in February. “I want to meet all the guys that played here. I didn’t play here, so I didn’t know a lot of them. But I know how much pride they have in this place, and I want to meet ’em and talk to ’em, and I want to make sure all the former players feel welcome coming back here, and I think they will once they meet all the former players and staff members.” According to MVictors reader TC, the hockey game appearance went over big-time with the students. Apparently he didn’t just show up for an interview and to slap the puck across the ice. Here’s TC’s recap and take: Not only did he do a ceremonial puck drop he also…

Relief: Beilein and crew down Wildcats
Congrats to the Coach Beilein and the hoops squad as they got off the schneid by taking down Northwestern 78-68 for their first Big Ten win. No word whether Coach Rodriguez did the mid-court shot at halftime. Apparently Beilein’s inspirational highlight DVD helped. Coach Beielin asked team manager and local guy Pete Burak to suit up for the game, but he didn’t play. Pretty cool. Seriously, what are you supposed to do about that? And in case the Indiana blow-out wasn’t out of your mind yet, the IU Blog Inside the Hall runs a little film session on Eric Gordon demonstrating the super frosh’s ridiculous range. The set? You bet: Crisler arena.

Coach Mac Wants his Mojo Back
On November 20 last year I wrote this post on the auction of a 1980 Big Ten Championship (and ’81 Rose Bowl) ring. This beauty eventually sold for a cool $1,990. The ring bears the name “McCartney” and thus it was speculated that this could be the property of former Michigan assistant coach Bill McCartney. This suggestion was dismissed as the seller pointed out that this was merely a salesman’s sample and we all moved on with our happy lives. Until last night. Turns out McCartney’s grandson TC McCartney is a freshman quarterback for Coach Miles [recruitniks: Yes, TC considered Michigan so take a cold shower]. After returning from the BCS Championship in New Orleans, Coach Mac’s better half was looking for some LSU Championship news and found MVictors (naturally). More specifically, she found the story on the ring and it prompted her to give us an excellent saga along with a plea: We just got back from watching our grandson’s team, LSU win the National Championship. I was browsing about looking for anything National Championship or LSU when I came upon this site. Oh my goodness, my husband’s 1980 Rose Bowl ring! How in the world did it get there? When one of our son’s was in high school his Dad let him wear the ring to impress somebody…

eBay Watch: Terrelle Pryor’s Sweatband just $349.99
Stumbled upon this on SI.com’s Fan Nation, looks like a wristband worn and signed by your hero Terrelle Pryor is being sold on eBay right now for a cool $349.99. (Maybe the seller will use those funds for a new camera). According to the seller, Ohio State is out of the running for TP….it’s down to Oregon and Michigan. Great! The auction reads: Up for bid in this auction is a Game Used Wristband signed by Terrelle Pryor the #1 ranked high school football player and #10 ranked basketball player in the country. Pryor also put “9/14/07” on the wristband whch is the date of the game he used it in. Terrelle plays for the Jeanette Jayhawks in PA. Pryor is going to MICHIGAN or Oregon next year and hopes to play football and basketball. You will get the Game Used Wristband that is pictured. The Game Used Wristband is signed in Blue sharpie. Not exactly Mean Joe Greene’s jersey! Well, who knows? If TP comes to Michigan and wins the Heisman, that wristband would be worth at least $10, don’t you agree? Speaking of Heisman, Michigan youtube Yoda “WolverineHistorian” just put down his latest joint, and nice montage of Woodson and Howard’s Heisman seasons with some excellent footage (I particularly enjoyed the endzone shots):

Can I Get a Spot? Firesale Sunday!
To make way for new fitness bad boy Mike Barwis and his $600,000 new toys, Rich Rod and his henchmen cleaned out the weight room. The old equipment will be on sale Sunday from 12-3 at ROCK BOTTOM PRICES. Details here and here: Due to the purchase of new equipment for the Schembechler Weight Room, the University of Michigan Athletic Department will be holding a public sale of surplus equipment. The sale is scheduled for Sunday (Jan. 13) from noon to 3 p.m. in Oosterbaan Fieldhouse. The equipment includes weightlifting apparatus as well as aerobic machines and dumbbells. Cash, credit or checks will be accepted, and the equipment must be removed from Oosterbaan Fieldhouse that day. Get on it man – Grab that bar and send it up! After one house cleaning, another was announced as you know by now that Mallett, Manningham and Arrington are gone. No hard feelings here for these kids and of course wish them best of luck. My take on 86 is “Happy Trails, Super Mario”. I didn’t think the guy gave 100% effort at the Wisconsin game and was obviously frustrated. I don’t care if Mallett wasn’t getting him the ball, he should have played through it and I have trouble forgiving him for that. Plus, did you really expect he’d stay? I always…

Hoosiers Breeze in front of Coaches Carr & Rod
This is midway through the first half – this is real Made it up to the game last night and it wasn’t as close as the 78-64 final score. – It’s a little frustrating to sit and watch. The offense pretty much looks for an open three and then clanks it off the rim. The good news? It seemed like they were getting good looks at the rim before then tossing the brick. – The highlight of the game was DeShawn Sims’ three-quarter court heave to end the half. The place erupted and that was nice to see. – Newsflash: Eric Gordon is amazing. Michigan kept it relatively close near half because Gordon was on the bench with three fouls. – A few local AA-list celebrities at the game including: * Coach Carr with wife Laurie at mid-court. He got a huge cheer when they showed him on the screen. * Coach Rod with a few new staffers (see pic). Both coaches spent some time with Florida grad and supreme hotness Erin Andrews. * Joe Dumars courtside checking out the talent. * Sam Webb of WTKA. – As far as the arena, it was at best 40% full with large portions of the Maize section empty. Four of us walked up to Crisler without tickets. A few different fans handed…
