An interview with longtime Michigan Associated Press (AP) sportswriter Larry Lage. We covered a ton of ground including: - His Ann Arbor roots and early days at Michigan Stadium - Performing as the 'Sparty' mascot at MSU (and how he kept it a secret) - Escaping the Malice at the Palace in 2004 - Getting cussed out and booted out of practice by Nick Saban - Growing up with two deaf parents and how this affected his perception and his career - The COVID vibe at sporting events, and the good & the bad for his profession - Much more...

Bo Enjoys Beating Spartans (1974)
I love this wire photo of Bo Schembechler that popped up on eBay recently. A photog caught Schembechler in the final few minutes of the 1974 game against Michigan State. Bo is hunched down and he appears to crank out a slight grin as he gazes up at the stadium clock. Love it: Let’s hope we get a similar grin from Coach Beilein at Crisler this afternoon.

Who Voted for Michigan – AP poll Sept 7, 2010
A quick rundown of who voted for Michigan in this week’s AP poll which of course doesn’t really count toward anything but people like to talk about it: I don’t know if Michigan is worthy of any of this, but I give these guys credit. They did what most pollsters fail to do—they apparently crumpled up their preseason ballot and voted based on what they’ve watched on the field, how novel. Here’s the guys who jumped Michigan into the top 20: Doug Lesmerises – Cleveland Plain Dealer (Newspaper) <—wow. This OSU/Michigan love lingers in the aftermath of the moving-The-Game near debacle. Jon Sololmon – The Birmingham News (Newspaper) <—In Birmingham they love the Shoelace. Brett McMurphy – AOL FanHouse (On-line) <—Brian Cook’s old haunt. And props to U-M grad Niyo. I owe him an Underground Printing O’Sullivan’s Mug Club shirt next time I see him.
