Terp’ed Up – Sights & Sounds (Michigan 42, Maryland 21)

Not too shabby, doubling up the Terps on a weather-delayed Homecoming setting up a wild weekend next Saturday night against the Badgers.

BTW – Weather delays create my radio lane — I went on the Meechigan football radio network for a bit with Karsch and Jansen during the delay to talk a little Homecoming history, just as I did before the Minnesota delay last year.    Sights and Sounds:

The Kid.  He killed it so I gif’d it:

Never Gets Old.   Second from the front is Dave Lake, class of 1950 – wow.  I didn’t ask, but it’s likely cheered for the Mad Magicians.

Righteous Yards.  Congrats to Higgy Baby for going over 2,000 for his career, passing Michigan great (and a coinkydink, current Maryland DB coach) Chuck Heater.  Here’s big #44 bringing the heat:

Chuck Heater heading downhill, about to smoke somebody [via @UMichBentley].  BTW – note the 2-toned maize pants which many deny actually existed.

Family.  Speaking of #44 (and later #48), former M man Desmond Morgan was back on Canham’s carpet – a grad assistant for Maryland:

My favorite second favorite Desmond

Elbel puked  –  OK I’ll say it.  I can seriously do without this “1, 2, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO” sync-up intro that’s been tagged ahead of The Victors. Harbaugh didn’t start it but I wish he’d end it.

Mood.  Up.  Gotta be up after that and the general state of affairs.  Next few weeks will reveal reality as we’re still guessing:

Feeling Blue.  Let’s do this more often especially after a big win.  Props to @umich for lighting up Burton Tower Saturday night:

Remember these?  Yeah, you recall those interior concourse columns covered with cool  photos of former Michigan players this year?:

Umm, they are gone – covered up with block Ms and such.

I’m not sure why but naturally I’m curious for an explanation.

Update:  Via mgo-Brian Cook:

I think I have an explanation: those columns were ads associating the players with various brands. Chris Spielman sued OSU over a similar usage of his likeness and since expanded his complaint to every IMG school. Michigan is one. Those columns were walking into a lawsuit with a target on your forehead. It would seem like removing the ads would be a better solution, but I doubt Michigan is driving the bus on this one.

HONK, HONK HONK!   Any chance Harbs had a little extra motivation to get Johnny Wangler’s offspring in the endzone on the weekend of the Bob Ufer documentary premiere?

Hmm…either way a few folks up in Meechigan Football’s Valhalla loved that one and so did I.

Go….band!  Epic turnout out from the MMB alums Saturday – well done:

Arms Race.  This shall be posted without comment:

Museum Worthy.  The UMMA has an exhibit through mid-November of classic campus photos taken during Homecoming 1947 – go check it out.  My favorite so far:

Hammer Strength.  Via #1000SSS:

Former director of strength and conditioning Mike Gittleson was Michigan’s honorary captain at today’s game. On Friday (Oct. 5), the program announced the creation of an endowment fund and the renaming of the strength and conditioning director position as the Mike Gittleson Director of Strength and Conditioning. Gittleson led the strength and conditioning program for Michigan Football for over 30 years and was honored as an “Honorary M Man” in 1997. Gittleson was inducted into the USA Strength and Conditioning Coaches Hall of Fame in 2009.
