Welcome to Ann Arbor, Coach Whitt! In one of the wildest, most controversial finishes in program and perhaps college football history, fans are barely moved by the result. An 18 point Mood drop after a win is as unprecedented as the appearance of the double-secret second reply clock that saved our butts in this one :)

Background:

Question: Is it great, to be, a Michigan Wolverine?
Answer: Depends.

The Mood was devised in March 2013 to gauge the collective feeling of the U-M fanbase on the stature of the football program. While there is a strong correlation between The Mood and Michigan’s ranking and win/loss record, it’s more complicated than this. 2021 is a good example. After a few games, many pundits had Michigan firmly in the national playoff discussion (which would imply a Mood rating in the 90s), even after the Michigan State game. But the Mood of the fanbase was reserved given the disasters in big games in recent years (see 2018, 2019).
