• SI’s Spring Game Coverage (Finally)

Murphy and Joe Schad (ESPN) talking with Threet Sports Illustrated finally released its recap of Michigan’s April 12th spring game at Saline High. Austin Murphy covered the game and to little surprise given the size (barely half a page) and its release almost three weeks since the final whistle, there’s not much that you don’t know. It did end with quotes from M legend Ricky Leach who told SI “This offense would’ve been tailor-made for me”, and added that, “the defense is going to have to really step up.” Murphy did give a mention to the Michigan nerdosphere: Three offensive linemen bailed out of the program, including returning starter Justin Boren, who transferred to Ohio State (and is known in the maize-and-blue blogosphere as Judas) I’ll take credit for that although in the M nerdiverse, the webmasters of this and a dozen other sites are huddled inside Apollo 15 listening to Ufer 8-tracks on a loop, orbiting BC’s Jupiter. And ok, maybe a Uranus.

  • Local Coverage of Spring Game

Some of the hustling at Saline High on Saturday went into producing a few pieces for the local papers (Saline, Manchester). You can check them out here: 1. Rodriguez preaches patience at Michigan spring game: The main article on the game. It starts out with a little history by recalling Crisler’s Mad Magicians, introduces Rodriguez and takes you through a few observations on the game. 2. Sheridan Gets his Shot Figuring the Saline paper would want something on Sheridan. 3. Spotlight on Saline Just a brief piece on what some key folks (Jamie Morris, Coach Rod, Coach Shafer, Chris Balas of the The Wolverine) had to say about the Saline field and campus.

  • Looking wet for Spring Game

The forecast is a bit grim for tomorrow’s scrimmage at Saline High School: I guess the only way that could be worse is if there were lightning bolts in those cloud graphics, or snow flakes. We’ll see but they’ve made no indication that they’d cancel it. On a good note – I’ll be there. Check back here Sunday and Monday for recaps, photos and possibly some audio/video. Looking forward to it.

  • Want to Watch the Michigan Spring Game?

UPDATE 4/12/08: Full Spring Game 2008 coverage, click here Of course you do. There’s still no word from Michigan’s official site, but the Saline Reporter is confirming that the 2008 Michigan Spring football game will indeed be played on April 12th at 1:30pm at Saline High School. The game is closed to the public as at best 10,000 fans could squeeze into the site and you’d have to expect crazy demand to get a peek at Coach Rod’s new offense and defense. It looks like it will be televised on the Big Ten Network, but some folks will get a first hand view of the goings on. Per the Reporter: While many members of the Saline athletic department, school system and athletics teams will be able to attend, White said that attendance issues would ultimately be left up to Michigan and the U of M athletic department. Many of you have already racked your noggin on how to get in, perhaps calling in favors with friends in Saline or within the athletic department. Forget any ideas of sneaking in with the equipment truck or waving a clip board as security will be tight. To save you some effort, I took a trip up to Saline and cased the joint. It’ll be interesting to see how the University manages the flow…

  • Spring Game April 12; site TBD

Check out some notes from John Heuser of the Ann Arbor News, as posted on MLive. The Michigan football spring “scrimmage” will be held, and we’ve got a date (April 12). We still don’t know where it would be held but word now is that it’ll be at a local high school. I got some scuttlebutt passed along that it would be at Ford Field despite the word that this is not an option. Someone had the balls to ask Rodriguez if the University of Toledo was an option, check out his answer. For now, looks like a local high school & I assume that means the one across Main Street.
