• Prime Time Champions | Dr. Sap’s Decals

I can’t remember the last time Michigan played so well at home, against a quality opponent, on the big stage, on national TV. This program has been on the other end of these beat-downs too often of late. All you have to do is look back to Penn State last year and how they were ready for the Wolverines. Well, tonight the shoe was on the other foot. The Maize & Blue showed no signs of arrogance – just a massive punch to the face that rocked the Badgers! Dr. Sap's Decals for Wisconsin...

  • Maryland Champions | Dr. Sap’s Decals

Steve “Dr. Sap” Sapardanis is a Schembechler-era savant and once again he’ll be diligently handing out his postgame helmet stickers after each game. Sap has pored over hours and hours of U-M games over several decades, and in these posts he’s able to tie the present to the past. I encourage you to subscribe to Dr. Sap on YouTube, or follow Sap on Twitter: OFFENSIVE CHAMPION – Against Maryland, there were several players (once again) that were deserving of helmets sticker on offense. While that’s great to hear and see, it makes my job tougher. Speaking of tough, ain’t no one tougher on this Wolverine squad than Ben Mason!  My gosh he runs with such power, emotion, ferocity and intensity!  And, #42 got some hops, too!  Great day for a hurdle, isn’t it, @UMichFootball‘s @benchmason42? pic.twitter.com/WQub0a5nlR — Big Ten Network (@BigTenNetwork) October 6, 2018 Never expected a fullback to leap defenders in a single bound, but that’s what Superman, er, Ben Mason did against the Terrapins, yesterday. His game is infectious and that’s saying something for a fullback who is not an every down player. But hey, maybe he should be! DEFENSIVE CHAMPION – I gotta tell ya, I was worried about this game – much like Bo used to worry about playing Northwestern back in he 70s.  Schembechler would routinely tell everyone how good and improved…

  • Wild, Wild Wildcat Champions | Dr.

Sap on YouTube, or follow Sap on Twitter: So how many of you thought this game was over when the score was, 17-0? As poorly as the Wolverines looked, were you confident they would rebound? Did you really think this was going to be a tale of two halves? Did you know that prior to the Northwestern game in 1984, Bo said this? The more things change, the more they stay the same. So in that vein let’s hand out some helmet stickers, just like Bo did back in the day. OFFENSIVE CHAMPION – In tight games, like this one was, you wanna put the ball in the hands of your playmakers. Saturday night, that playmaker was Shea Patterson. When a 3rd down conversion was needed to keep the drive (and game) alive, #2 kept moving the chains with his arm and/or his legs. He played a gutty game and willed his team to victory. A game like that will not only endear you to your teammates & coaches, but…

Sap on YouTube, or follow Sap on Twitter: By Steve “Dr. Sap” Sapardanis Before I talk about how great the entire Michigan team played in all phases of the game on Saturday, and before I talk about how Michigan outhit Nebraska in all phases of the game, that performance (for both teams) should serve as a reminder for everyone on how much work it takes to restore a once-proud & mighty program back to where it was a few decades earlier.  Attitudes have to change and players have to buy in to the new staff’s direction. Remember the “All In For Michigan” slogan a few years/coaches ago?   The Michigan program, players & fanbase have been exactly where Nebraska is right now. It takes time – and a few blowouts like this – but The Big Red will be back, just not this year. Enough perspective – onward to some helmet stickers! OFFENSIVE CHAMPION – There have been some impressive offensive performances down through the…

  • Mustang Sally Champions | Dr.

Sap on YouTube, or follow Sap on Twitter: By Steve “Dr. Sap” Sapardanis After a rough start to the game Michigan finally got it going, but for a while there I, like Bo, was mildly concerned after that scoreless first quarter.  The good guys eventually won so it’s onward, but not before we hand out some helmet stickers! OFFENSIVE CHAMPION – I thought TE Zach Gentry had a very good game, and he did have a career best performance, but when Donovan Peoples-Jones scores three TD’s, you gotta give the WR some love – and a helmet sticker!  After going almost an entire calendar year without a touchdown by a wide receiver, it looks like number 9 is getting more comfortable with his QB & improving each week – that bodes well for the Michigan offense. DEFENSIVE CHAMPION – I’ve always felt that in sports, and in life, you should strive to not just be a contributor, but a difference-maker.  For the Michigan defense,…

Sap has pored over hours and hours of U-M games over several decades, and in these posts he’s able to tie the present to the past. I encourage you to subscribe to Dr. Sap on YouTube, or follow Sap on Twitter: By Steve “Dr. Sap” Sapardanis I’m still on cloud nine after today – and it wasn’t the fact that Michigan responded with a decisive win.  I’ll explain my euphoric state shortly, but first things, first – let’s award some helmet stickers! OFFENSIVE CHAMPION – If Bo Schembechler were still around, he would have said that, “Michigan played like Michigan, today!” The old coach would have been right, once again. The offense looked sharp, decisive and confident. None more than the QB, Shea Patterson, in my opinion. Not only did he throw three TD’s, he displayed tremendous ball accuracy & placement with his throws and he looked much more comfortable running the offense this week against Western Michigan. I get it, WMU is no ND, but Bo always said that a TEAM improves the most from the first game to the second and that sure was the case today. It was great to see #2 put the ball right on the…

  • Badgered | Dr. Sap’s Decals

Steve “Dr. Sap” Sapardanis is a Schembechler-era savant and once again this season he’ll be diligently handing out his postgame helmet stickers after each game. Sap has pored over hours and hours of U-M games over several decades, and in these posts he’s able to tie the present to the past.  I encourage you to subscribe to Dr. Sap on YouTube, or follow Sap on Twitter.   OFFENSIVE CHAMPION – It’s always difficult awarding champions after a loss because, for the most part, no one typically will have played a perfect game. Mistakes were made all over the field, in all phases of the game. Having said all that, I’m awarding my decals to those players whom I feel demonstrated the ability to be game-breakers. I call that out because in order to beat Ohio State next week, players will need to step up and make plays. On offense that guy is Chris Evans. He seems to finally be healthy and quite possibly THE ONLY healthy runningback right now. He was close to going all the way against Wisconsin on a couple of plays, on Saturday. He can hit the home run and/or leap over defenders in a single bound as he did last week against Maryland. Hopefully #12 can channel his inner Clarke Kent because the offense could sure…
