Listen. It’s never easy losing to your in-state rival, especially when a trophy is on the line, but this season is long from being over and if 2020 has shown you anything–it’s that anything can happen. It’s time to refocus and pick up your collective heads because Indiana is up next week.

I will say once again my sheet was right – the first team that kicks a field goal has a greater propensity of losing the game than its opponent. I’m not sure why, maybe it’s because you just left 4 points on the field. Michigan sure could have used those points at the end of the game. It proved to be prophetic last week as well when Minnesota kicked the first field goal of the game and went on to lose.

The other thing on my sheet: the first team to score 40 points typically wins the game. The way the rules now favor the offense, the game of football is now geared towards scoring touchdowns and not kicking field goals. So next week, let’s score more touchdowns than the Hoosiers!

OFFENSIVE CHAMPION It seemed like when Blake Corum came into the game, he made people miss and made things happen. His shiftiness and jump cuts reminded me of Mike Hart & Chris Perry. He’s only a freshman but this guy is electric & seems to spark the offense. Hopefully that spark will be there next week!

SPECIAL TEAMS CHAMPION I liked how Jake McCurry hustled on the punt team twice to pin the Spartans deep inside their 10-yard line. Special teams can flip the field & provide some momentum and energy for the team in general. It would be great to see a repeat of that next week in Bloomington.

UNIFORM CHAMPION – How did you like those small M’s In between the stripes on the back of the helmets? I was unsure at first, but if they represent team goals or something about testing negative for COVID-19*, I’m all for it!

GO BLUE! STAY POSITIVE!

*[Ed. that might be a HIPAA violation? That’s all we need right now!]
